3 Bedtime Snacks To Help You Sleep
Once upon a time in a childhood far, far away “bedtime” was a dreaded affair and we would risk it all to stretch the day out just FIVE MORE MINUTES! Nowadays, we look at sleep with much more affection. It is a time for our bodies to recover, recharge and is a key part of a healthy lifestyle.
That said, nodding off isn’t as simple as just counting sheep. Did you know that what you eat can actually help or hinder you getting a good night’s sleep?
There are many foods that have naturally occurring substances that can help us get a good night’s sleep.
Here are three bedtime snacks that could help you catch some solid Zzz’s…
- Cheese on crackers
For this sleepy snack, slice or grate your cheddar cheese of choice and stack on some wholegrain crackers and hey presto!
- Yogurt and mixed berries
A small bowl or pot of yogurt is a tasty and smart choice before drifting off to sleep. Just add some mixed berries and a drizzle of honey, 10/10 would recommend to a friend.
- Warm milk & honey
This creamy dreamy night-time drink is like a hug in a mug.
You’ll need:
1 mug of milk
1 tablespoon of honey
A few drops of vanilla essence
Sprinkle of cinnamon (optional)
Next steps:
Heat milk in the microwave or in a saucepan for 2-4 minutes, or until it starts foaming. Once warm, add a tablespoon of honey, vanilla a sprinkle of cinnamon, and voilà!
