Healthy Breakfast Ideas: Porridge 3 Ways
When it comes to healthy breakfast ideas porridge is the OG for us. It can be eaten hot or cold, topped with fruit or with nuts (or both) and it can be eaten all year round in our books. If you are a fellow porridge lover and are looking for some healthy breakfast ideas, you have come to the right place because we are serving up three ways we love to have our magical oats! Creamy Chocolate and Coconut Porridge
We love this porridge combination, it is rich and creamy but also super nourishing. This is the kind of bowl of porridge we like to have on a lazy weekend when we want a creamy bowl of oats with a chocolatey twist. We have also be known to whip this combination up just in a small portion size up for a bedtime snack. Okay, what will you need? For the creamy chocolate oats we usually go for 45g of Porridge oats, 200mls fresh milk, 1 tablespoon of cacao powder slow cooked in a pot for the best consistency. The toppings that tickle our fancy are one small ripe banana, 1 tablespoon cacao nibs & 1 tablespoon coconut shavings sprinkled on top!
2. Mixed Berry Oats with a Blackberry Coulis
First and foremost, this bowl of porridge looks better than we will on our wedding day. Beautiful fresh berries and oats are a dream combination – sweet and creamy and packed with nutrients! We generally go for 45g porridge oats, 200ml milk and a handful of blackberries, raspberries and strawberries a berry coulis and a sprinkle of bee pollen for good measure!
3. Fruit and Nut Mix Porridge with Banana
The same combo of milk and porridge oats as above but this time we have topped our healthy porridge recipe with with banana, coconut chips, nuts, sweet raisins and a sprinkle of bee pollen!
